As a yoga teacher who specializes in working with people with cancer, Lorien Neargarder has partnered with several hospitals, support centers and clinics in the Bay Area to provide yoga as part of a cancer survivor’s tool kit for better living and longevity. This is how she discovered Cancer CAREpoint, a nonprofit organization that provides personalized counseling, assistance, resources & education to all Silicon Valley cancer patients, families & caregivers free of charge.
In order to raise the money required to keep Cancer CAREpoint’s programs free to their clients, Lorien organized the first Pose 4 A Purpose yoga event in 2014, and with its continued success, she has kept it going for three years in a row!
This year as Lorien prepares to move to the East Coast, she has passed the stewardship of Pose 4 A Purpose to three colleagues who are as passionate about supporting those who are living with cancer and offering the opportunity to make their lives easier. Lindsey Kolb , Courtney Krishnamurthy, and Dana Rysavy are stepping in to bring this event to yoga studios in the South Bay the weekend of Friday, September 29th – Sunday, October 1st, 2017 to provide continued support for Cancer CAREpoint’s free services.
