About the Event

Thanks for checking us out. My name is Lorien Neargarder and I am a local yoga teacher who specializes in working with people with cancer. I have the privilege to be acquainted with several hospitals, support centers and clinics that provide yoga as part of the cancer survivor's tools for better living and longevity. I am honored to be a part of the Cancer CAREpoint team, offering yoga classes for this special non-profit since 2012.

In the last year I had an idea:

design an event that brings together yoga practitioners and teachers in a fun way to raise money for the programs at Cancer CAREpoint!

I immediately called on my colleagues and contacts in the area to see what I needed to do, since I've never done anything remotely resembling this before, and away we went. I'm very excited to be seeing this vision come to life. Here's a little about the event...

The Venue

Vasona Lake County Park is located in Los Gatos in the south Bay Area. We secured an area of the park that has both easy pedestrian access from the street and a lovely view of the lake (see the blue circled area on the map). The meadow is large enough to house over 300 yoga mats, and there will be a canopy to ensure that we don't get overheated. Classes will be scheduled throughout the day, with all of our favorite yoga teachers from the area!

If you've never experienced yoga outside, you are in for a treat.

Along with the soothing meadow, the park has several trails that our yoga teachers will take advantage of as they lead you through Walking Yoga and Walking Meditation classes. These classes offer you opportunities to explore the magical within the mundane.

If you are truly up for something entirely different, try one of our Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga classes. These classes meet at the dock and use stand-up paddleboards as your "mat". You'll learn balance and focus, and have lots of laughs! The lake is large enough to hold several SUP Yoga classes at once. This is a unique chance to float away from it all.

All of these classes will be available for online registration soon.

In addition to all the wonderful yoga, there will be activities scheduled for in between the classes. We are still finalizing these, but we're looking into live music, interactive drumming / chanting, Capoeira demonstration, Hoopdance lesson... and more! Stay tuned as these details are worked out.

...And More...

We will have food trucks available to purchase nourishment throughout the day, as well as lots of water to keep you hydrated! There will be a section of the meadow that has vendors for you to learn from or solicit. These vendors will range from holistic cooking to arts and clothing with a conscious theme.

I'll post more information about the event and registration as it becomes available. For now,
